One place i would rather not have marble is as a window sill.
Can you paint over marble window sills.
Cultured marble is slick and i needed good adhesion a water based primer isn t going to fly here.
A small roller and brush did great.
Prep work using a 36 grit sandpaper gently remove the glossy finish.
However once you ve done the prep work painting the sill white is.
I m not sure if there s a way to bring the shine back to the marble but you can paint anything.
I recently bought a home and the windowsills are marble or cultured marble and have yellowed over the years is there a way to brighten whiten or paint these.

You can request a sill with rounded or square edges.
I am not sure if the marble was originally a creamy yellow but after 40 something years that is the color it has become and as you can guess it clashes with the new.

I am either going to have just dry wall or try to paint the marble.
Make sure that there aren t any glossy spots left in the marble the paint won t stick to it.
Then frame and build a new sill that will be the same thickness of the old sill so that the window will fit in the space.
If you wanted to remove the sill unfortunately the time to do so should have been when you removed the old window and before.
With chalk paint you can cover marble in one or two coats with little to no sanding beforehand.

I used my go to primer zinsser oil based.
One coat and i let it cure over night even though it dries quick and says you can re coat in an hour i wanted it to dry super hard.
Marble supply outlets and countertop shops will cut a sill to the correct width and length based on the measurements of a window ledge.
My house was built in 1973 and one of the groovy things to do then was to use marble as the ledge of the window.
